In the middle of Frankfurt's old town, the new building of the German Romantic Museum opened in September 2021.
Numerous paintings and unique originals from the German-speaking Romantic era have found a new home here. MÄCKLER ARCHITEKTEN developed the new building as a windowless museum to protect the sensitive exhibits from UV radiation.
In fact, the lively windows distributed in the façade lead into the stairwell or the foyer, while the light-sensitive exhibits are shown in the right light with LED lighting. In the entrance hall of the museum, NauticProfil® lines of the Radiant type immerse the imposing historical fire wall in a warm light.
The fire wall was preserved in the building that was originally destroyed in the war and makes the history of the place visible. Your spatial impression is enormous. Every little stone and the former traces of the craftsmen can be seen by the visitor, not least because of the very good color rendering quality of the LED lighting with a CRI of 93. Opposite the fire wall is the counter of the entrance area and a bookshelf with numerous collector's items.
These are softly and glare-free illuminated by a NauticProfil® LED line integrated into the ceiling cove. Another highlight of the museum is already recognizable from the outside: the mosaic-like glazed bay window. Dipped in a deep blue, it is reminiscent of a central symbol of romance ® the blue flower. Vertically installed FLASHAAR® LED lines make it shine at night.
