How can historical building fabric be preserved and at the same time brought into the present? The Leising moated farmstead in Münster-Nienberge shows how sensitively and innovatively this dialogue can succeed.
With great respect for the existing structure, architect Sven Winkelmann has created an ensemble that combines history, craftsmanship, and modern living. The starting point was a precise 3D survey of the listed courtyard – the basis for a design that takes every detail seriously and preserves the unique character of the existing structure.
In collaboration with Anna-Kristin Bochnia, a lighting concept was developed that underscores the character of the historic building without overpowering it. Warm, subtle light complements the architecture, highlighting materials and spatial sequences – quietly, yet effectively.
Custom-made luminaires from our NauticProfil system were used, precisely tailored to the geometry and requirements of the building. They blend seamlessly into the historical fabric and demonstrate how modern lighting technology and historic preservation can mutually enhance each other.
