New platform lighting at Frankfurt am Main Central Station

As part of the modernization of Frankfurt Central Station, the decision was made to consistently use our lighting solution for the exterior areas. The aim of these measures is to make the station as a whole more open, brighter, and more inviting – a requirement that today must be met not only aesthetically, but also functionally and economically. The quality of lighting plays a crucial role, especially on platforms. Our certified DB platform luminaires provide uniform, glare-free, and standards-compliant light that significantly improves visual orientation and increases passengers' sense of security. Targeted light distribution optimally illuminates waiting areas without creating unnecessary light spill or overexposure. The result is a clearly structured, pleasant lighting scheme that functionally supports the platform while simultaneously contributing to a welcoming overall atmosphere.

A particular advantage lies in the high flexibility of the lighting solution. The DB platform light is a new development specifically designed for the requirements of Deutsche Bahn and is being used for the first time in the "Hamburg" type platform roof. Its design, however, allows for far more than just this single application: thanks to well-engineered accessories such as adapter frames and recessed and surface-mounted frames, the light can be easily integrated into a wide variety of roof constructions – both in existing buildings and new constructions.

This offers significant advantages, especially for planners, architects, and decision-makers in the railway sector: Existing platforms can be modernized with relatively minor interventions, without the need for complex and costly complete renovations. The lighting adapts to the structural conditions – not the other way around.
