Modern lighting concept for the “Gateway to Mainz”

The new pedestrian and cycle bridge spans Saarstraße on two specially created and landscaped hills, welcoming visitors to the state capital as the "Gateway to Mainz" at the western entrance to the city. It connects Mainz University and the Mainz 05 football stadium with the Kisselberg residential and commercial area, eliminating cumbersome detours by finally providing a new, direct route.
Wide, barrier-free paths and generous staircases on both sides lead up to the bridge. Functional lighting on the bridge and stairs consists of NauticProfil® Victory LED lights integrated into the handrails. Asymmetrically directed light ensures even illumination of the walkways and steps, guiding pedestrians and cyclists safely across the bridge at night. The lights are positioned to prevent any glare.
LED lines tracing the underside of the bridge's arch emphasize its gateway-like character, lending the bridge a sense of lightness and making it appear to float.
