Over 1300 meters of linear FLASHAARLED lights illuminate the newly renovated congress area of the Liederhalle Stuttgart cultural and congress center.
The Liederhalle Culture and Congress Center is located in the heart of Stuttgart and is one of Germany's leading concert halls. While the cultural center has hosted major orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and musical giants like Jimi Hendrix, the so-called Hegel Complex is a popular venue for congresses, conferences, and trade fairs.
Following an 18-month renovation of the congress area, fire protection, building and network technology, as well as stage and event technology, are now state-of-the-art. Reflecting a commitment to sustainability, approximately 4,500 energy-efficient LED lights were installed for the audience lighting, including numerous luminaires from FLASHAAR .
Lighting concept with a blue ceiling: A major challenge for the lighting designers at Gerd Pfarré was to make the expansive foyer area, with its complex ceiling structure, more inviting. They decided to paint the previously white ceiling a rich, dark blue, lending the space a greater sense of calm and elegance. Since the foyer is used for events, the lighting designers ensured a balanced distribution of light. They also visually brightened the edges of the room to sharpen their impact. The NauticProfil Nova-5 LED light lines used illuminate the striking ceiling openings with neutral white light. Thanks to the white cover, no individual light points are visible, and the light line appears consistently homogeneous. The spacious feel is further enhanced by the light reflections off the floor.
Hegel Hall – Special luminaires highlight the acoustic sails: The central focus of the congress center is the Hegel Hall. It seats approximately 1,900 visitors and has an irregular heptagonal floor plan. The hall owes its excellent acoustics to a sophisticated sound system. Since no wall runs parallel to the opposite wall, sound spreads diffusely – an advantage for spoken word. Daylight enters through the striking skylight, which is divided into upper and lower volumes by hanging glass sails. This ensures brightness and perfect acoustics in all seats and is certainly the most striking feature of the hall. Lighting structures are integrated into the glass sails, creating a brilliant effect behind the glass. It was important to the lighting designers to preserve this lighting effect after the renovation. To achieve this, they used special luminaires from FLASHAAR , based on the NauticProfile Focus, which allow for a wide spacing between light points.
Hegel Hall – Linear Grazing Light for the Walls: LED light lines from FLASHAAR the walls of the Hegel Hall. The NauticProfil system used is ideally suited for this purpose, as it allows for the easy installation of long light lines with just a few power feeds. To largely conceal the direct view of the light source, the luminaires were mounted in a narrow, deep trench. Their grazing light visually highlights the walls and provides indirect lighting for the room. Different light colors are used: 3000K warm white light grazes the sides of the hall's walls, while 4000K neutral white light illuminates the outer walls. 30° linear lenses are used for precise light direction, with the frosted surface ensuring the most homogeneous light line possible. The LED luminaires can be dimmed continuously via DALI.
Foyer Area – Linear Pendant Luminaire: For the illumination of the ceiling trench, the lighting designers used a new FLASHAAR luminaire – the H2flex. Its flexible design allows for countless lighting solutions and serves as a modular system for creating distinct spaces. The resulting black anodized pendant luminaire is almost 30 meters long and follows the winding course of the ceiling trench. Equipped with high-intensity NauticProfil Nova-5 luminaire inserts, its neutral white light serves as part of the general lighting. At the client's request, the converters and dimmers are externally mounted to simplify maintenance.
Restrooms – Cove Lighting: In addition to these central lighting elements in the Hegel Hall and foyer area, FLASHAAR NauticProfil linear lights were also used for the equally functional and elegant lighting of the restrooms. Installed in a cove ceiling, the lights are invisible to the observer. The indirect light serves as ambient lighting and creates a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.
