SNP Dome Heidelberg: A subtle lighting concept for atmosphere and orientation

In Heidelberg's Innovation Park, the "SNP dome" is a successful example of modern sports architecture and multifunctionality. This modern sports hall, with seating for 5,000 spectators, serves as the home venue for the MLP Academics Heidelberg and is a new hub for both recreational and elite sports in the region. The building combines architectural clarity with an open design: generous glazing allows it to connect with the outside world and offers glimpses into the interior of the hall.

Particular attention was paid to the atmospheric lighting of the outdoor areas: The Corten steel benches and raised beds are subtly illuminated from below, elegantly highlighting the architectural elements and creating an inviting atmosphere after dark. The lights integrated into the handrails blend seamlessly into the overall design and ensure safe illumination of the steps. This creates clear wayfinding, facilitating orientation and gently guiding visitors through the grounds.
