The new central bus station (ZOB) in Esslingen impresses with its sophisticated architecture and size. Equipped with a total of 18 bus stops, it forms part of a clearly structured ensemble comprising the train station and forecourt. After almost two years of construction, the final piece of a whole series of urban development projects at this gateway to the city has been completed.
The ZOB's distinctive feature is its gently curved glass roof, spanning nearly 2,000 square meters. It blends carefully and harmoniously into the cityscape while simultaneously emphasizing the existing train station building. A total of 1,300 glass elements protect visitors from wind and weather and allow light to reach the bus platforms during the day. At night, highly efficient LED lighting creates a bright and welcoming atmosphere. It is particularly low-maintenance and conserves resources.
The individual roof elements are illuminated by FLASHAAR MiniLine-2 Nova-2 luminaires. With 2100 lm/m and 24 W/m, this LED luminaire provides bright yet energy-efficient illumination. Transparent 60° linear lenses direct the neutral white light precisely downwards onto the bus platform, ensuring even illumination of the glass triangles.
The LED luminaires are mounted using angled ML MountingClips, allowing for quick and precise installation. Each illuminated ceiling element has its own small distribution box. Delivered ready for connection, it includes a converter and a DALI dimmer, enabling easy dimming of each individual light triangle.
