In the heart of Berlin, between Potsdamer Platz, Tiergarten and Gleisdreieckpark, lies the charming Lützowviertel. Here, the “Drei Höfen”, an innovative mixed-use building, was created that provides a modern interpretation of the tradition of Berlin’s “backyard” architecture of the 19th century. The design comes from the renowned architects Tchoban Voss and is a successful combination of historical charm and contemporary design. Living, working and retail are harmoniously combined and create a lively atmosphere that enriches urban life in Berlin. Three differently designed, green courtyards offer the ideal backdrop as meeting places and oases of retreat in the middle of the city.
When lighting the courtyards, emphasis was placed on creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere in the evening hours, which fits harmoniously into the representative living concept. Various lights set accents and underline the architecture without dazzling or even disturbing the residents.
To meet individual requirements, custom-made pendant lights were installed in the passageways, based on the NauticProfil® system, ideal for supplying long runs with just one feed. While light lines were integrated directly into the ceiling in other areas of the building, the structural conditions here required a different solution. Pendant lights offer the necessary flexibility and at the same time ensure precise and targeted light distribution. Despite their impressive size of up to 3 x 10 meters, the rectangular lights appear almost weightless thanks to fewer suspension points. They fit harmoniously into the overall architectural concept and underline the spatial effect of the courtyards.
