SNP Dome Heidelberg: A subtle lighting concept for atmosphere and orientation

In the Heidelberg Innovation Park, the “SNP dome” is a successful example of modern sports architecture and multifunctionality. The modern sports hall, with space for 5,000 spectators, serves as the home venue of the MLP Academics Heidelberg and is a new center for popular and elite sports in the region. The building combines architectural clarity with an open design: generous glazing allows it to look outwards and allows views into the interior of the hall.

Particular attention was paid to the atmospheric lighting of the outdoor areas: the Corten steel benches and raised beds are subtly lit from below, elegantly highlighting the architectural elements and creating an inviting atmosphere in the dark. The lights integrated into the handrails fit seamlessly into the overall picture and ensure safe illumination of the steps. This creates a clear route that makes orientation easier and gently guides visitors through the outdoor area.
