Impressive light show and symbol of modern mobility

In November 2023, a new pedestrian bridge was officially opened to the public at the Stadtoval in Aalen. It is designed to connect the new urban area and the city center in an attractive and convenient way, creating short distances between them. Its central location and excellent accessibility offer great potential for a vibrant urban district.

The plans for the 141-meter-long footbridge, which spans the tracks of Aalen's main train station at a height of 8.5 meters, were designed by Werner Sobek, an architecture professor from Aalen.

A spiral staircase clad in larch wood slats leads up to the walkway on both sides. Alternatively, one can use one of the two elevators around which the staircases wind. Long LED light strips, integrated directly into the handrails, guide visitors up and across the entire bridge.
NauticProfil® NP Sta. Maria luminaires provide optimal, glare-free illumination of the walkways. In combination with additional LED strips mounted on the outside of the walkway, behind the slats, they create an impressive lighting display of the bridge at night.

Thanks to the integrated through-wiring, based on our patented contacting technology, two feed points are sufficient for the over 140-meter-long light line in the handrail – one on each side at the ends of the bridge.
